Glasflügel

Glasflügel was the first firm to manufacture a glass-fibre sailplane in large numbers. It was also responsible for a large number of innovations in sailplane design and technology: quick assembly systems for wings and tailplane, automatic control connections, trailing edge airbrake-flap combinations, hinged instrument panels, the parallelogram control stick and automatic trimming are some innovations introduced by Glasflügel and later adopted by other manufacturers. Some of these are standard features in nearly all gliders produced today.

Materials

Our interiors are made from the finest top quality Argentinian leather and alcantara.

  • Cattle leather is one of the most demanded raw materials in the light industry. The quality of tannery pelt product manufacturing depends on the quality of leather processing. The professionally handled skin, and, in particular, cow leather represents the upholstery tannery material with such qualities as:
    • flexibility;
    • durability;
    • uniformity.
  • Result of a unique, proprietary technology, Alcantara® is a thoroughly avant-garde material with aesthetic, technical and sensory qualities that no other material can equal.

    Made by a sophisticated industrial process with no rivals – the recipe is still a secret – Alcantara embodies the new paradigm of the contemporary lifestyle typical of those who search, in the products they use every day, besides functionality, also the emotion of beauty, respecting ethics and the environment.
